The first live gig I went to was Rollins Band, touring after Weight came out. I remember looking up at one point while the support band played (Kim Salmon and the Surrealists) and seeing Rollins standing in a window looking out at the crowd. I noticed a red dot shifting around, probably from some kid’s laser pointer, but it freaked me out. I was sure Henry was going to be shot - I watched a lot of crappy movies at that age and the idea seemed reasonable - and I turned around to tell my friend Rachel, but she was off somewhere sharing a joint with some random guy. It was a formative experience.
From a fantastic book, which was turned into one of the greatest movies ever made.
